The Columbia River
Compact agencies of Oregon and Washington met today to
review salmon and sturgeon stock status and consider
non-Indian commercial fishing options for the mainstem
Columbia River and took the following actions:
Non-Indian Fisheries

salmon seasons as follows:

or 9 inch minimum to
9 ¾ inch maximum mesh size restriction. |

The following Allowable Sales
and Washington Reporting Rule apply to all non-Indian
commercial salmon seasons adopted above:

Allowable Sales: |
Salmon and sturgeon. A maximum of fifteen green or
white sturgeon in the aggregate may be possessed or
sold by each participating vessel during each calendar
week (Sunday through Saturday) of the open fishing
periods. The fifteen sturgeon possession and sales
limit includes both mainstem and Select Area
fisheries. |

Washington Reporting Rule: |
WDFW adopted a regulation requiring all Washington
wholesale buyers purchasing fish from the commercial
mainstem salmon fishery to send a report of their
landings to WDFW by 10:00 AM on the day after the
purchase date via either: a) FAX transmission to

Future Compact Hearings
·
A Compact/Joint State hearing
is scheduled for 3:00 PM, Tuesday September 27, 2005 via
teleconference to discuss ongoing recreational and
commercial fisheries, salmon stock status and consider
Treaty-Indian and non- Indian commercial fishing seasons
in the mainstem Columbia River.
